Silver Mouth - Hold On

The sun goes down at a quarter past four
The moment I step out into the cold
The streetlights turn on and I feel okay again
Walking down market street
As the pavement reflects the lights of the season
And as I watch the final dregs of daylight
Melt away into a blue night sky
I turn around to see the Christmas lights glisten
Talk to me, and I swear I’ll listen
Sing to me under a canopy of stars
Give me something I can hold on to
And as the snow falls, I’ll hold on to you
I’m feeling like a kid now
Stepping to the beat of your heart
I’m dancing to the memories
Take me home tonight, this Christmas we’re okay
The lights will shine, I’ll hold your hand
And talk to you in a language only we understand
This is something we can hold on to
And as the snow falls
And as the snow falls
And as the snow falls, I’ll hold on to you

Miss the snow days Christmas gave us
Running, waiting for the cold to bite my nose
Sledding down hills that felt endless
My friends and I would walk by the school just to see it empty
Miss the smell of the air before the holidays
Santa's waiting with things he knows I've been wanting
But now I'm grown, and I don't know Him anymore
And ah, hey Christmas ain't the same
Just another season in the year
to fight the same old pain
And ah, that tree was plastic anyway
I sure could use another Christmas snow day
When Grandma passed away one early
January morning
The way I view the world forever changed
And Christmas is a time to
forget about your burdens
But what about the ones for which
you don't get to have a say
And I am trying hard to find
what Christmas time can bring me now that I'm
Growing older and I'm harder now to please
than I was at thirteen
When all that I needed was
a present neath the tree
And ah, hey Christmas ain't the same
but it does no good to sit around
and lose ground to your pain
And ah, let's get that tree out anyway
I sure could use another Christmas snow day
I sure could use another Christmas snow day
